Many people have to be careful about what they eat. This is especially important if you have heart concerns. What you eat is very important for your health and well-being, and here are some low cholesterol recipes that you may enjoy.

Better Breakfast Omelet

When most people think of eggs, they think of something that is not the healthiest of breakfasts. However, you do not have to use three whole eggs, cheese, and sausage, to have a tasty and hearty breakfast. It is all a matter of substitutes. Some people may enjoy using egg substitutes for their omelet, but there are other things that you can do.

Egg white omelets do not have to be boring and bland. If you spice up an omelet with onions and peppers, it can make it much more appealing to the eye, and the pallet. Do not forget to sprinkle some of your favorite shredded cheese on top. Slow cook the omelet, to allow it to absorb the flavor of your ingredients.

Do not overdo the cheese when you make your omelet, just put enough to flavor it. Also, you may wish to use one whole egg and several egg whites. This will give you a light omelet, which is much healthier than a normal one. You also can cook some fresh potatoes in olive oil. Many people have the wrong idea about potatoes, but they have no trans fats, and are completely free of cholesterol.

Ice Cream Substitutes

You may enjoy a nice big bowl of ice cream, but there may be cholesterol and fat concerns. However, there are ways that you can enjoy a cold, sweet, treat, and it may satisfy your sweet tooth. Take several of your favorite fruits, cut them up, and place them in a bowl.

Fruit bowls can contain any number of fruits, and you may wish to include bananas, grapes, apples, and cantaloupe. Try adding some plain or vanilla yogurt to the fruit, and make sure that the yogurt is low fat. This can satisfy your cravings, without adding a great deal of empty calories to your diet.

Summary

When you need low cholesterol recipes, you do not have to substitute taste for better health. Instead of a dessert loaded with sugar and fat, try fresh fruit and yogurt, instead. You can make a healthy omelet with egg whites, peppers, and onions. Cook your potatoes in olive oil, to make them a healthier selection, also.
