It is important to wear the right cycling clothing for the various weather conditions. In autumn as the climate starts to cool down in the UK you should start to think about wearing the right combination of cycling clothing. This normally means wearing a high quality base layer underneath a cycling jersey or waterproof jacket.

Wearing the right Cycling Clothing will make your cycling experience much more enjoyable. If you are a hardened cyclist and pretty fit you should feel the cold less as you will have good circulation. An ideal combination is a breathable base layer and light weight windproof, breathable, waterproof jacket that will keep the rain off.

If you are starting out cycling then wear a base layer, a thin mid layer and a light weight waterproof jacket until you warm up at which time you can then start to take off a layer. If you carry a light weight back pack you can take off layers put them in your cycling back pack.

You should also start to think about wearing gloves as we get into winter as well as overshoes to keep your feet dry when it start to rain. Ideal cycling gloves for this time of the year are long finger gloves. Also cycling overshoes are ideal to keep your feet warm as well as keeping your dry.

You can also wear a cycling cap , which should ideally be breathable and can worn underneath a cycling helmet for additional warmth. If you do not want to wear a cycling cap , you can stay completely dry by wearing a cycling helmet rain cover over the top of your cycling helmet.

Ideally you should wear high viability Outdoor Clothing this time of the year, although it is difficult to buy high vis gloves and cycling overshoes they will all have reflective logos on them. The autumn and winter is fantastic time to cycle and can be highly enjoyable if you make a small investment in the right clothing. Most importantly always wear layers.

Also remember that you will only get the benefit from wearing a breathable cycling jacket if the clothing that you wear underneath is breathable.
